Reasons to visit Bala and the Snowdonia National Park #1

Bala, situated in the beautiful Snowdonia National Park is the perfect base for exploring North Wales.

Over the next 10 weeks we will be posting reasons why Bala is the perfect choice for your North Wales adventure.

There is so much to see and do in this area, not only do we have Wales’s largest natural lake but we are also surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery in Wales.  Only a stone throw away is an array of adventure activities, days out for all the family (the dog included!) and just magnificent views for you to soak in.

The Snowdonia National Park is the oldest national park in Wales and covers 827sqm and also has an impressive 37 miles of pretty coastline to be discovered.

We are situated 100 yards away from Bala Lake and are a leisurely 10-15 minute walk into the town, so why not come on down with your tent, caravan or motorhome and start exploring this area.

 #1 – Beautiful lakes

Of course the main attraction for people visiting Bala is the lake, known as Llyn Tegid to the locals. It is the largest natural lake in Wales at 3.5 miles long and 3/4 of a mile wide, and is situated only 100 yards away from Pen y Bont.

Perfect for sailing, paddle boarding, canoeing and so much more.  There are also a number of fantastic walks in the area which are perfect for taking in the beautiful sights of Bala Lake and the surrounding mountains.

Also nearby is the equally beautiful Lake Vyrnwy, perfect for walking, cycling and water sports and the drive over to Lake Vyrnwy from Bala is breathtakingly beautiful.
